After Hours at AMNH
After hours at AMNH is a treat. The throngs have vanished and the great halls of dinosaurs and dioramas are peaceful.
I just got a new camera and I'm learning its ways, so I thought, keeping all other things constant, I'd mess with the camera's color temperature to see its effects. I chose a bold, yet biased, subject: the Rose Center for Earth and Space at the American Museum of Natural History.
Bold because it's such an immodest building. Biased, not because I work there, but because it's enshrouded in blue light in the evening.
I spanned the white balance on my camera from 2,500 Kelvin up to 10,000 Kelvin to see what effect this will have on my photos. Here is a sampling of the results.

The dioramas in the North American mammals hall are among my favorites. In my opinion, the coyotes in Yosemite are the best, which I mainly judge based on its background painting.

Outside the museum, the narrow driveway that leads under the Central Park West entrance. And, the Bull Moose dog run on the north side of the museum. I also snapped a shot form the Astor Turret, looking southeast toward Central Park and Midtown Manhattan.
