Annapolis and Assateague

Assateague Island

Wild horses roam this small barrier island that straddles the Maryland-Virginia border. The horses stay in Assateague all year long and may be seen roaming the beach or the grassy scrub.

Foraging

This horse found something edible here, although I struggle to see what. Rare to see a horse on the beach.

Annapolis

Passed through Maryland’s capital, Annapolis, on a damp, foggy night. Made for some nice photos in the small harbor. It’s best known for its Naval Academy, but this bayside state capital oozes folk-art, antique charm. Its State House is the oldest in continuous legislative use in the United States (construction began in 1772).

Annapolis Fogged In

The harbor is filled with boats on this eerily still night.

Annapolis harbor

For some reason, the sky redered purple in this photo of the Annapolis harbor. Not the sharpest photo, but I like the colors.
