After Jury Duty
This month I served on a grand jury. Thirty days of going down to the courthouse, an environment I find rather depressing. Some days we got out a bit early, and I was able to take my camera out for some walks around town. No real agenda, just ambling around town and seeing what I see.
Noguchi's Red Cube was installed in 1968 on Broadway and Liberty Street.
The cathedral of commerce, a.k.a. the Woolworth Building, was the tallest building in the world from 1913 to 1930.
This 550-foot, windowless skyscraper on Thomas Street houses telephone exhange switches. It is completely self-sufficient and can survive the fallout from a nuclear attack.
This new skyscraper by Gehry takes on a wind-blown, wavy form. It's now the tallest residential building in New York City.
A new apartment building with a curved form and a facade of mixed rectangles.
A boutique hotel in SoHo. Concrete-chic.
Just married, walking into the afternoon sun outside the courthouse.
Spotted this woman collecting cans in Foley Square, around the court houses.
A new house camouflaged among old buildings with an antique sign.
A corner in TriBeCa with old advert signs.
