Central Park Scenes
The more I wander around various parts of town, the more challenging it becomes to find subjects. No where is this more true than in Central Park. I suppose this is a good thing—sharpens one’s skills. Here are a few pics that struck me from my walk through the park today.
This tree always catches my eye. There’s something about the roots, and, more importantly, the light that is allowed in by the leafy canopy above. It always seems to be lit with a soft, dim light, no matter the time of day.
Occasionally, New Yorkers need a reaffirmation of the inherent good of humanity. This bird’s nest lies on a tiny ledge under one of the arches in Central Park. It’s about four feet off the ground and easily reached by anyone passing by. But, it remains unmolested with its blind chicks waiting for its mom to return with food.
The carnival comes to the park each summer and occupies the ice skating rink in the southeast corner of the park.
The animals of the Chinese zodiac, by Ai Weiwei, who was sitting in a Chinese prison while this was displayed across from The Plaza.
