Skyscrapers at Night
My favorite time of day to be out with my camera is in the evening. There’s something about the challenge of night photography that really gets my creative juices flowing.
Empire State
This shot of the Empire State Building in the clouds was a difficult one to get. I’m standing 10 blocks away, and the lack of light makes it difficult to get the right focus. And, the clouds were moving so fast the composition changed every minute. This was the best of the bunch.
Met Life
I really liked how this shot of the Met Life building came out. The light seemed just right on this shot. I’ve taken many photos of this building before, but the dusk light just balanced things out perfectly tonight.
One Madison
This is an early entry in the super thin skyscrapers. I love the boldness of these thin towers. While it faces 23rd Street, the entrance is behind the building on 22nd, so it appears as though the building has no entry way.
Paramount Theater
The top of the Paramount Theater in Times Square. This was built in the 1920s and was home to their flagship, 3,600-seat movie theater. Many movies premiered here. The theater closed in 1964, but the office building remains, with its clock topped with its glass globe. The hours on the clock are stars, designed to imitate the circle of stars in the Paramount logo.
