Out of Town

Took a brief trip out of the city where I snapped a few shots of nature.

My parents have a hummingbird feeder, and I was determined to get a hummingbird on this visit. It’s not easy. I set up the camera about 15 feet away and waited. As they came in, I snapped away using my camera’s remote. Still, they are not easy suckers to capture. This was the best of the bunch, where the bird was pretty clear.

Hummingbird

A hummingburd comes to feed.

Even in these suburban skies, I like to see the stars when it’s clear—it’s much darker here than in NYC. Here’s a shot of the northern sky with the Milky Way, and some light-pollution-reflecting clouds.

Suburban Sky

Traces of the Milky Way streak across a semi-dark suburban sky.

Finally, a couple shots from the garden.

Basking

A flower basks in the summer heat.
