Camping Trip 2012
A few shots from our camping trip this summer in the Adirondack Mountains. I take fewer and fewer photos each year we come up here, but I thought a couple of these came out great.
First, my favorite is a long exposure sitting by the fire at the end of the day. My favorite time of day on a camping trip, or anytime, really.
These two photos are looking straight up from our camp while we’re sitting around the fire. I pointed the camera straight up and played with a bunch of exposure times. The one on the left, my favorite, is 164 seconds, taken after we recharged the fire by placing a fresh log on it. The photo on the right is 112 seconds and has less oomph, compositionally.
This photo was begging for an HDR, with the sunset and dark foreground. But, I was lazy and was enjoying hanging out and socializing instead of taking the time to set up.
A little later, during dusk, some went for an evening dip. I didn’t have the tripod set up, so I decided to try without. They are way too fuzzy for me, but there’s also a beauty in that lack of sharpness that I like.
