Paris By Night
This is my first trip to Paris. I split my phots into night and day posts. I really love taking night shots, and I want to highlight them here with their own page.

One of the fountains in the Place de la Concorde in Paris. This is the south fountain, which represents the seas with figures harvesting coral, fishing, and collecting shellfish and pearls.

Under the Eiffel Tower.

The Seine is beautiful night or day, but it's particularly beautiful in the rain.

Mel with the Arc de Triomphe in the Place Charles de Gaulle.

The beautiful Saint-Augustin church was one of the first steel-frame buildings in Paris, so it's not very old by European standards. It also goes unmentioned in the guidebooks, so the standards for greatness is indeed high in Paris.

A contemporary art installation in Place Vendôme.

Moon, and other light, on the Seine.

My eyes never grow tired of gazing upon the Eiffel Tower. Here is the view from the esplanade along the Seine on the Left Bank.

The Saint-Augustin church with its 250-foot-high dome.

The Pompidou, a building whose guts make up the facade, is a contemporary art museum.

The hourly light show, when thousands of strobe lights shine like diamonds on the Eiffel Tower.

Avenue des Champs-Élysées and the Arc de Triomphe.

The Rome metro stop, whose entrance is adorned with an Art Nouveau decoration. We're joining some teenagers drinking from a bottle of wine.

The Place de la Bastille, where the prison stood until Bastille Day, when it was destroyed. Today, the July Column and the crypt below it, pays tribute to those who died fighting for the republic.

The massive door at the Petit Palais in Paris.

The facade of Notre Dame.

Notre Dame cathedral, the heart of France, lies on a tiny island in the Seine.

The tippy-top of the Eiffel Tower.

The Jardins du Trocadéro, with its beautiful fountains and spectacular view.

Paris's beacon, the searchlight atop the Eiffel Tower, stretches to the horizon and is visible all over the city.
