WTC Memorial
Visited the September 11 Memorial today at the World Trade Center. It opened about two years ago (though the museum is not yet finished), but one still needs a free ticket to enter the area.
The pools occupy the footprint of the original twin towers of the WTC. Today, 1 World Trade Center is almost complete in the background of this photo.
The pools form from water that pours into them, wich then pours into a smaller cube, and is cycled back to the top. I was really happy they preserved the original footprints. That was very important to me, having grown up being fascinated with the twin towers’ bold presence on the skyline.
We walked over to City Hall Park and I tried to take some long exposures of the fountain, with mixed results. I used my ND filter, and everything came out a little fuzzy for my liking.
