Westside Grays

Just a few random shots around Riverside Park today. I ventured out with the intention of shooting in black and white—which, let’s face it, requires a different eye from color photography… color often drives a composition far more than it should.

Highway and Bridge

Manhattan's gateway: always open, always teeming.

Mottled Bark

A London Planetree's mottled bark.

I wanted to see the detail of this bark. I jacked up the texture, and the clarity a bit and pulled out the speckled, blotchy textures. At a certain distance, it looks like a topographic map.

The Chosen Grave

Trinity Cemetery in the 150s. This was formerly Audubon's estate and was bought by Trinity in 1842.

The Downward Path

A path in Riverside Park heading toward river level.

The Attic's Attic

The attic's attic.

Ginormous Apartments

Ginormous Apartments. Quite possibly the largest apartment building in New York at 3333 Broadway.
