2014 Easter Parade
The Easter Parade is one of the best gatherings of spring. You could be forgiven for thinking it’s a stuffy, stodgy affair. In reality, it’s a stage for creativity, and for creative types who love to be seen. At its essence, it’s a flamboyant block party—there is no marching in this parade. And, it all takes place in front of St. Patrick’s Cathedral on 5th Avenue.
This was one of my favorites from the day. The colors, the parasol, the costume… it all made for a great portrait. I did some work to throw some light on his face—I don’t use a flash, so it’s tricky on a sunny day with all these brims and costume covering the face.
I see this Asian couple at gatherings around town. They must frequent public gatherings in their garb, which is different each time.
