High Line to Hudson Yards

In a black and white mood today, I suppose. Just a quick walk up the High Line to Hudson Yards at its northern terminus.

The High Line

The High Line is a newish, exotic park in the city. It is, in every way, a sublime experience. Its design, its views from a perspective slightly above street level, are new, and New Yorkers love new spaces to explore.

Over time, the gas stations, the flat fixers, and the warehouses are slowly evaporating. In their place are sprouting luxury condos transforming this forgotten neighborhood into another playground for the wealthy. The result is that most of the views from the High Line—one of its hallmark features—are diminished and endangered.

Soon, the High Line will be a canyon of condos.

Abandoned Bagels

Finally, an only-in-New York photo—bagels on a street corner. What could be more New York?
