Sunset on Manhattan

I had the privilege of seeing NYC from above today. I went to a friend’s house to help them out with something, and knowing that they have a good view from a high floor, I brought my camera along—I never waste an opportunity to see the city from a higher vantage point.

The sunset did not disappoint. On the contrary, it was one of the better sunsets I’ve seen in my life.

A more focused composition on the skyline. I like these in color and black and white. The color brings out the various facades and the gradients of orange in the clouds. The grayscale version makes the sheen of the facades more prominent, and the darker foreground clouds stand out too.

City at Night

I took a couple shots once it grew dark. One of the “piling up” of buildings into Midtown, and the other is my tribute to Berenice Abbott (no relation).

Finally, the cat whose home I’m invading this evening—Hodor.
