Night in Lower Manhattan

Chinatown

A couple shots from Chinatown. One, which I love, is on Pell and Doyers, and has this illuminated, winged horse hanging above the intersection. It’s a 1.3-second exposure, with ghosty people on the left.

Manhattan Bridge Views

Took a walk over the Manhattan Bridge this evening. Thankfully, someone has cut holes in the fencing to allow for unobstructed views now and then.

These are all timelapse, HDR shots. The one with the fence visible is a four-shot HDR, with 0.8-, 1.6-, 3-, and 6-second exposures. The car lights were from the 0.8-second exposure.

Breaking Through the Manhattan Bridge

Someone happily created holes in the fence on the Manhattan Bridge to get these shots of Lower Manhattan.

Gehry Designed

Gehry apartment building downtown

The Gehry-designed apartments near city hall.

This is one of my favorite recent buildings. It’s near the Brooklyn Bridge, and I just love the sinuous facade. I find myself shooting it whenever I’m near it.

The subway entrance under the Municipal Building, with its vaulted, tiled ceiling, it’s a great space with most of its potential wasted.
