Montauk Point

After being cooped up in coronavirus isolation for so long, we decided to take a day trip to Montauk, the eastern tip of Long Island. The parks remain open, so we can walk around at least on this beautiful spring day.

Montauk Point

The Montauk Point Light. The original keeper's house from the late 1700s was torn down and the new house was built in 1860, along with a heightening of the tower.

Montauk Lighthouse

The lighthouse is the fourth-oldest working lighthouse in the US. The gun batteries to its left were installed during World War Two.

Montauk Point Light

The Montauk Point lighthouse was completed in 1797, the US's first public works project approved by President Washington.
