Manhattanhenge Sunset

Strictly speaking, this is not a Manhattanhenge date—when the sun lines up exactly with the street grid of Manhattan. But, tonight, the sun is shining down this Manhattan street, albeit a little farther above the horizon.

Just a few days after restaurants reopened in NYC (COVID days) for outdoor dining, we decided to get out and eat at a restaurant—something we’ve not done in months.

The timing was perfect to capture this guy in the street, taking his own photo of the sunset. His long shadow really makes the shot for me.

Manhattanhenge Sunset

When the sunset is aligned with the Manhattan grid, we call it Manhattanhenge. Today, on one of the first nights with outdoor dining, I got a perfect shot of this guy's shadow looking at the sunset.
