Moynihan Train Station

This was not a serious photo day—I’m only carrying my phone. But, in the spirit of “you can get a great shot on any camera,” here I am exploring the newly opened Moynihan Train Station.

When a new public space opens in NYC, people flock to it. I’d guess around 80% of the people inside the station today came simply to see the station. The primary activity here among us all was photography.

Concourse

Built within the original, block-long post office’s courtyard, this is designed to put a new shine on the rat’s nest that is Penn Station across the street.

I definitely put the wide-angle lens on this iPhone to use here.

The Hive

One of the art installations in the station, The Hive, by Elmgreen & Dragset, hangs precariously above one of the entrances. I feel like half the people here are waiting for it to plunge to the floor and crush all those under it.

One Manhattan West

This new skyscraper is somehow very pleasing to me, which is unbelievably rare. I like the curved corners, and the tapered, eastern façade.

Opulence

The Christmas decorations inside the new mall at Hudson Yards. It’s juuuust a bit much.

The XI

The XI (Eleven) is a new residential building on the High Line in Chelsea. I like its skewed lines, and there is another sister building behind this one.
