Brooklyn Waterfront
Borough Hall
The flowers around Borough Hall were in full bloom on this warm, spring day.
On the front of the building, skaters fill the plaza, flipping their boards over grates, trashcans, and the stairs. This guy drew applause from many here—I guess he’s a superstar.
I tried catching some action shots of these skaters from my vantage point perched high on the staircase. Nothing came out that I really resonated with, but these are not horrible.
Brooklyn Promenade
Spring was in full swing in the gardens along the promenade. I like these two shots. One of the houses, framed by the vivid greens of spring. The other, a shot of the Brooklyn Pier of the bridge, with a new Manhattan skyscraper behind.
Brooklyn Bridge Park
Tried to take a shot with my 10-stop neutral density filter. Not really excited about the result at all, but I do like the damping of the sun. The filter often washes out the colors a bit, so I went to grayscale for this image.
I loved these dancing kids beside the carousel. They were not performers, just kids having fun and showing off for their parents, who were sitting just outside the frame.
Walking over the Bridge
Took a few shots as we walked across the bridge. There is a beautiful crescent moon in the sky, which I wanted to try to capture.
I like the way this light appears, almost in silhouette, midway across the bridge.
